Introduction

The Department of Hospital Administration, SMVDIME, strives to impart highest quality of evidence based Education, Training and Research in the field of Healthcare and Hospital administration. The department aims to provide absolutely patient centric comprehensive healthcare services with quality assurance

Hospitals and healthcare facilities are growing by leaps and bounds and healthcare processes are becoming more complex in all the dimensions. As per our national health policy hospital functions as a hub of our healthcare system linking preventive and curative medical care. Besides managing Hospital Operations in the hospital, the Department of Hospital Administration will facilitate the healthcare organization to provide effective leadership for organisational development and community participation so as to improve the quality of life of the population. Department will ensure development of dynamic administration expeditiously through formal education programmes.

Faculty members of the department having independent charge as MS/AMS will be responsible for managing Hospital Operations, fiscal policy, administration of clinical and non-clinical hospital services including various ancillary and support services, medical records, HR management, procurement and supply chain management and dealing with all the legal and ethical issues and all the clinical and supportive services.

The Post Graduate Course in Hospital Administration will lead to imparting knowledge about the academic disciplines of management sciences for its application in the hospital and healthcare services to improve the quality patient care and ensure optimum utilisation of the scarce resources and facilities. At the end of training programme of three years following instructional tasks will be achieved

General administration and management of hospital
Health administration and Medical care
Hospital Administration and Hospital Planning
Administration of Clinical and Non-Clinical services

Department of Hospital Administration of SMVDIME will be rendering Consultancy Services to different Institutes/Medical Colleges/Dept of Medical Education, Govt of J&K and other states and UTs on selected domains along with the entire spectrum of Healthcare Administration.To fulfil the commitment to capacity building and human resource development in the field of hospital administration at State, National and International level, it will be the endeavour of the department to propagate the speciality to develop more and more hospital administrators for effective and efficient functioning of the modern day healthcare establishments. So, the department will be actively involved in imparting various long term training, short term training, fellowship and CME programmes in healthcare administration for Central and State Govt Health Services Officers in the various fields of management of patient care. Thus, department of hospital administration will evolve into “Centre of Excellence” for Teaching, Training and Research in the field of Healthcare and Hospital Administration and Management. The department will be conducting Outreach Health Camps and Peripheral OPDs at strategic locations to enhance the reach of our hospital and consultants and establish our footprints. The department will also be responsible to co-ordinate new projects at SMVDIME Medical college and SMVD Narayana Super speciality Hospital. “Administrative Control Room” will be established for the smooth functioning of the Hospital.
