Lt. Governor Shri Manoj Sinha Visits Injured Pilgrims at SMVDNSH, Kakryal, after Vaishno Devi Landslide:
Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir and Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Katra, Shri Manoj Sinha, visited the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), Kakryal on 27th August, 2025 to inquire personally into the health and well-being of pilgrims injured in the catastrophic landslide on 26th August, 2025 along the Vaishno Devi yatra track.
Accompanied by the Principal Secretary Mr. M.K. Bhandari (IAS), the CEO of SMVDSB Sh. Sachin Kumar Vaishya (IAS), District Commissioner Reasi Ms. Nidhi Malik (IAS) and the Executive Director of SMVDIME Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Shri Sinha met with injured pilgrims, reviewed their medical status and assured them of all possible care and support.
Dr. Yashpal Sharma briefed about a comprehensive review of the medical status, care progress, and recovery outlook of the pilgrims injured in the tragic landslide. In his address, Lt. Governor Sinha directed that the best possible medical facilities and assistance be made available to all those affected by the tragic landslide, and reaffirmed the Shrine Board’s commitment to pilgrim welfare. He further reiterated about the prompt arrangements for 24x7 free accommodation, meals, transportation, and other assistance for attendants of the victims, ensuring their safe return. Shri Sinha’s visit underscores the Board’s dual focus: prompt medical response to unforeseen emergencies, and sustained investment in infrastructure, health care and transport facilities to ensure that devotees undertaking the Vaishno Devi yatra receive safe, dignified, and supportive treatment under all circumstances.
